I just purchased this set of books for my family several months ago and all I have to say is that this is one of the most impressive courses that teach the Arabic language to non-Arabic speakers. What I enjoy the most about it is that it you learn the language through the medium of Arabic itself. No English, no translation, no reliance on your native tongue. You have to think and respond in Arabic in order to use this course. I think that is what makes it so successful. I will present to the reader just some brief information on the course.
Book One is 401 pages with sixteen lessons and a mini-dictionary covering all of the vocabulary presented in each lesson. There is a small test at the end of the book to evaluate your level of comprehension. I know some of you are looking at the inside and thinking, “my there sure are a lot of pictures of people in here” but I assure you the only purpose they serve is to drill in your mind the meaning of the Arabic word or sentences you will come across. As you proceed to Books Two and Three there will be less pictures and more texts.

(Inside of Book One, click on the pic if you want to get a closer look.)

(I added another page from Book One just so you can see the vocabulary part.)
Book Two consists of 435 pages with sixteen lessons and a mini-dictionary as well, this time it covers all of the vocabulary you learn in Book Two. This level gets more intense as far as reading and writing are concerned. Now when I say writing I mean that you will be expected to write feelings, comments, and explanations of the texts presented. Rules of grammar and punctuation are also presented here.
Book Three is 440 pages consisting of sixteen units and the standard dictionary as the other two books. This book is more advanced and focuses on a higher level of reading, writing and speaking in Arabic. When you reach this book you will have no problem picking up books by the Ulamaa and reading them. This is the main focus of the course, to teach Islamic studies and an advanced working knowledge of the Arabic language.

(Inside of Book Three)
All three books come with a CD that covers each unit, so you not only strengthen your reading and writing you also boost your comprehension skills. The recordings are clear and the speakers start off speaking at a medium speed and then advance with each CD. Each book has a CD cover to carry your CDs along with the book.
(Cover of Arabic dictionary, this one is heavy!)The dictionary that comes with the course is without a doubt a very integral part of increasing your vocabulary. Since it is in Arabic you learn the meaning of the word in Arabic and walk away with a stronger understanding of the word. I have to say that the verses of the Quran along with examples and lines of poetry aide in broadening one’s comprehension. It is 403 pages and comes in hardback cover.
(Back cover of dictionary)
(The DVD pouch of 4 DVDs that contain lessons on pronounciation.)
(Cover of the DVD set.)There is a small booklet that comes with the text along with a DVD series to help you with pronunciation. This is a good addition to the books for those new to the Arabic alphabet.
(Front cover of the booklet.)
There is also a teacher’s course that goes with it for those teaching the book but I have not purchased that set yet. Once I get it I will try to post information on it here inshaAllah. Keep in mind that the publishers of this excellent course have the site in both English and Arabic, and even though the Arabic site lists the price cheaper it does not list the shipping and handling which is the same price as the books on the English site which do in fact list the S&H. You can also find it from other Islamic bookstores within the States for a fair price. I purchased two sets for my family, one from Saudi and the other one from

(Inside of booklet, it really just takes from Book One.)
This is a serious course for those who want to get into the language, and if you don’t have the opportunity to go study overseas then your best bet is to purchase this course and go through it so that when you do get to study you already have a strong base to work with when you seek knowledge abroad.

we feekum Baaraka Allah,
You can purchase this course at any online islamic bookstore. I bought one set from http://www.noorart.com, they sell the teacher books there as well or from the publisher at http://www.arabic4allusa.com.
I hope that sets you in the right direction.
Aboo Imraan
Salaam, by the end of the course would a person be able to pick up any CLASSICAL textbook and understand it? I ask as I've seen book 1 and 2 and they mostly seem to have modern arabic. also how good would your spoken be?
wa alaykum as-salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,
After you complete the course, meaning all 3 books, you will be able to pick up classical books and be able to read and understand them especially after book three.
Book two exposes you to many verses of the Quraan and Ahaadeeth, etc. All of the sections are set to Islamic themes even though it is in a modern setting so you have a mixture between both religious and secular in this course.
Keep in mind that this course was designed to strengthen all 4 areas of language mastery: speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension. It was also designed to ensure that you reach a college level understanding of Arabic in order to continue studies in Arabic Universities.
With that said it is best to do this course with a teacher who will check your writing assignments, your pronunciation, and your reading comprehension of the audio.
One last thing concerning the audio, after each lesson of book 2 small lectures are given to enhance listening skills. A lot of these audios will help you in understanding Friday Khutbah's in Arabic while difficult at first with time and listening to various speakers your understanding will increase.
May Allah grant us Tawfeeq in this blessed month of Ramadan and may He allow us to understand His Book when we hear it.
Please make Duaa for me.
