Book Review: 3 Beneficial Treatises that warn against as-Soofiyyah (Sufism)

Upon my move from Texas to Georgia, I was shocked at the amount of Muslims who have fallen into the innovations of the Sufis and the terrible influence that they have left on the people here. (Back home in Texas the Ikhwaan-ul-Muslimeen control many of the Masaajid and run the Administrations so I am more used to their politics, voting, demonstrations, etc. C'mon even the extreme Soofi Tableeghis in Texas demonstrate!)

Aside from the three Salafee Masaajid (Masjid ‘Ibaad-ur-Rahmaan in Marrietta, Masjid-at-Tawheed in Stone Mountain, and Masjid Abee Bakr as-Sadeeq in Decatur) every Masjid you walk into here has some level of Sufi influence to it, whether in the form of group Dhikr immediately after prayer or flyers announcing group celebrations of the Prophet’s (may the peace & blessings of Allah be upon him) Birthday or even hearing people praise their Sufi Shaykh and Tareeqah!

The Scholars and Students of Ahl-us-Sunnah wal-Jama’aah have taken great means to clarify our Religion to us and to put every issue in its proper place. And from that means and clarity are lectures and written works that they have given and written in order to warn the Muslims from the People of Innovation.

I am reviewing three beneficial treatises that cover the very topic of Tasawwuf:

حَقِيْقَةُ الصُّو فِيَّةِ فِي ضَوْءِ الكِتَابِ وَ السُّنَّةِ

{The Realities of as-Soofiyyah in light of the Quraan and the Sunnah}

A transcribed lecture by Dr. Muhammad bin Rabee Haadee al-Madkhalee (hafithahullah) who is a teacher in the Islamic University of Madeenah, K.S.A brings together a very beneficial overview of as-Soofiyyah and the Sufi Ideology and how it contradicts the Book & the Sunnah.

The original Arabic pamphlet is forty-eight pages and was printed by Maktabah ‘Abdul-Musawwir Muhammad ‘Abdillah in ‘Ayn Shams, Cairo, Egypt.

This booklet has been translated into English and you can download the PDF version of it by Clicking Here.

حَقِيْقَةُ التَّصَوُّفِ وَ مَوْقِفُ الصُّوفِيَّةِ مِنْ أُصُولِ العِبَادَةِ وَ الدِّيْنِ

{The Realities of at-Tasawwuf and the position of the Sufi Ideology compared to the Usool (Fundamentals) of 'Ibaadah (Worship) and the Deen (Religion)}

This treatise was written by Dr. Saalih bin Fawzaan al-Fawzaan (hafithahullah), one of the Major Scholars of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a forty page treatise that brilliantly deals with the Sharee’ah understanding of ‘Ibaadah (Worship) and the Sufi Ideology of ‘Ibaadah.

(Inside of the Booklet)

The Shaykh gives an introduction along with six guidelines for worship to be considered correct based solely from the Quran and the Sunnah. He then brings the reality of Tasawwuf to the forefront and lists the position of this ideology in comparison to the Usool of ‘Ibaadah and Deen.

Our brother Aboo Maryam Isma’eel (hafithahullah) has translated a portion of the Introduction and first chapter on his site, you can read it by Clicking Here.

إِعْصَارُ التَّوْحِيْدِ يَحْطِمُ وَثَنَ الصُّوفِيَّةِ

{The Cyclone of Tawheed destroys the Idolatry of Sufism}

Written by his Eminence, ash-Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez bin Baaz (rahimahullah) and printed by Daar-ul-Qaasim, this beautiful booklet actually outlines the various Sufi Tareeqah’s and what they believe in. My favorite chapter is where Shaykh Bin Baaz shows the direct relation between the Ideology of Sufism and that of the Shee’ah!

(Inside of the Booklet)

This booklet also contains a Fawtaa section from the Shaykh & Permanent Committee refuting Sufism by way of questions presented to them concerning innovated practices that the Muslims have presently fallen into.

I ask Allah that my dear friend Anwar Dupuis (hafithahullah) completes the translation of this noble work and I ask Allah to have mercy upon the noble Shaykh (rahimahullah) for writing this.

You can purchase all three of these treatises from the brothers of SalafiLibrary.com
